A Little Perspective and A Little Nudge...
I had the pleasure of seeing this film at a preview Michael Jr. did a few months ago. The film made me laugh hard like I expected, but it also provoked alot of questions and emotions that I wasn't necessarily expecting. I remember Michael Jr. talking after the film was over and challenging us to take a look around ourselves and see what kinds of simple ways that we could be of help/service to someone in need. He brought up the fact that sometimes we hold ourselves back from reaching out to others because we overcomplicate things by thinking through all the "what if's". Other times we disqualify ourselves because we don't see ourselves as having the time or resources to make a "real" impact. I walked away from Michael Jr's film with a stirring inside to be more aware of the every day needs around me, and a greater willingness to act if/when the opportunity presented itself.
It wasn't a week later that I was having a conversation with a friend who mentioned that he hadn't...
Heartwarming and raw
Michael Jr's, "Comedy: The Road Less Traveled" is a documentary showing just how desperate society needs laughter despite circumstances. He traveled to different areas such as a prison, children's abuse center, etc. Watching the movie wasn't always comfortable because reality shouldn't always sit so well. The challenges and heartache people endure are real, the pain is real, the sin is real. BUT he shines light that we all have a gift to share our love and concern for those who may be forgotten, deemed unlovable, and simply those with shattered dreams. It truly gives a sense of hope that doesn't have a laundry list of terms we must meet to receive it. Kinda like Jesus. God bless Michael Jr. for listening to God's still small voice by using his gifts and talents to bless the lives of others. May we all be inspired to live like Christ in such a hurting world.
Serious Inspiration without being Serious
After seeing Michael Jr. live, I purchased the dvd. Comedians with a message miss the connection that Michael Jr. makes with his audiences. Instead of speaking to a crowd that is comfortable and can afford the price of a ticket, Michael brings his humor to people who desperately need the gift of laughter. The responses sampled in the video inspire me to connect with those who have not had the blessings I have had in my life.
I recommend this dvd to anyone who has a strong heart center and wants to find a way to create a better world. Michael Jr. has his finger on the pulse on what the hurting need.
